My mother taught me to read early, which remains one of the most useful things anyone has ever handed me.

As a teenager, I spent my afternoons in bookstores. One day, I walked out with a book about investing in stocks. I never really looked back. Stocks have treated me well and taught me a lot ever since.

In May 2024, that curiosity got more expensive. I joined a few syndicates and started writing cheques into private companies — learning the only way that really teaches you anything: with real money at risk, real decisions to make, and a few painful mistakes along the way.
